Gasoline prices continue to fall in Pennsylvania, according to AAA East Central

Gas prices in Pennsylvania are 3.3 cents lower this week at $3.221 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

Nationwide, as the summer travel season continues, the average for a gallon of regular has dipped by a less than a penny over the past week to $3.144.

Pump prices are matching the summer of 2021, the last time seasonal gas prices were this low. One of the main factors, crude oil prices under $70 per barrel, is helping to keep price increases to a minimum.

The national average is 35.1 cents lower than a year ago.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand decreased from 9.15 million barrels per day last week to 8.48 million barrels. Total domestic gasoline supply increased from 229.5 million barrels to 232.9. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.1 million barrels per day.

Pennsylvania average prices are: $3.221 on Tuesday; $3.254 a week ago; and $3.642 a year ago.

The record price was $5.070 on June 12, 2022.

The Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton average prices are: $3.038 on Tuesday; $3.070 a week ago; and $3.528 a year ago.

The nation’s 10 most expensive gasoline markets are California ($4.49), Hawaii ($4.47), Washington ($4.39), Oregon ($3.99), Alaska ($3.76), Nevada ($3.75), Idaho ($3.48), Illinois ($3.41), Utah ($3.38), and District of Columbia ($3.33).

The 10 least expensive gasoline markets are Mississippi ($2.71), Oklahoma ($2.76), Texas ($2.76), Louisiana ($2.78), Arkansas ($2.78), Alabama ($2.79), Tennessee ($2.79), South Carolina ($2.83), Missouri ($2.86), and Kansas ($2.86).
