Jim Thorpe raising money for GoJoe tour

Jim Thorpe raising money for tour

Jim Thorpe will roll out the red carpet Thursday for WNEP’s Joe Snedeker as part of his annual charity bike ride, known as Go Joe 28.

The borough will host a community celebration from 4-6:30 p.m. at Memorial Park to welcome Snedeker and his team, while raising money for the St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton. The center supports individuals with special needs and their families through residential, community and outpatient services.

Jim Thorpe’s welcome event includes food trucks, kids activities and music from DJ Monty. Raffle tickets for various prizes, including an iPad, coolers, lawn chairs, tickets, pool floats and jerky, will be available for purchase at the borough office and at the event until 6:15 p.m. Raffle chances are available for $5 or $10 donations.

All proceeds will go directly to the St. Joseph’s Center.

Local businesses are also helping support the event. Prize donations came from St. Luke’s Health Network, Mason’s Cold Beer, Asa Packer Mansion and the JT House of Jerky. Mauch Chunk Trust Company is sponsoring free face painting for children.

Food will be available from a variety of trucks, including Doggie Wagon, Bubba’s Steak and Taste of Tall Oaks Pizza.
