Day in the Park set for Saturday in Slatington
It’s a day to celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month with live music, food, and family fun.
The Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority invites the community to Victory Park in Slatington from 2 to 9 p.m. for the annual Day in the Park celebration in honor of National Parks and Recreation Month.
This year’s event promises something for everyone, with live music, delicious food, refreshing drinks, family-friendly activities, and local organizations all coming together to celebrate community and the importance of parks and recreation, according to Kasey Meixsell, executive director, NLRA.
Meixsell said live performances at the Angelo J. Scarselletti Amphitheater will include two local favorites, Brake for Turtles from 3 to 5 p.m., and The Main Street Cruisers from 6 to 8 p.m.
Meixsell said that throughout the day, attendees can enjoy a fantastic lineup of food and beverage vendors, including Don Chuy’s Tacos, Grumpy’s BBQ, Greek Street, Stone Lake Winery, Little Lemon Lemonade, Caring DAM Hearts, and Mon and Mel’s Sweet Scoops.
In addition to the food and music, Meixsell said the top of the park will be lined with booths hosted by local clubs and organizations, sharing information or hosting fundraising activities. Inflatable games will be available for kids, making this a truly family-friendly day of fun, she said.
“We’re proud to bring this community tradition back again this summer,” Meixsell said. “Day in the Park is all about celebrating local parks, recreation, and the people who make our community so vibrant. We hope to see you there.”
Meixsell said attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, an appetite, and a sense of fun.
Admission is free and open to all.
