Longtime litigator joins Monroe-based office

Gross McGinley LLP, a leading full-service law firm, announces the addition of attorney George W. Westervelt Jr. to the firm’s partnership group.

He will join current partner Victoria A. Strunk at the practice’s Stroudsburg office, and will serve clients throughout Monroe County and the neighboring northeastern region.

With a practice focused on commercial and federal litigation, eminent domain, real estate tax appeals, estate litigation and products liability, Westervelt is recognized for his thoughtful approach to complex legal challenges and a steadfast dedication to protecting clients’ rights and interests.

His extensive trial and appellate experience includes appearances before the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, and the District of New Jersey.

Westervelt’s legal foundation was shaped early in his career by his clerkship with the Honorable Samuel J. Roberts, justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (1973-74), providing him with valuable insight into appellate practice and judicial decision-making.

His courtroom expertise is demonstrated through his involvement in several notable cases, including Buzzard v. Road Runner Trucking, Pansy v. Borough of Stroudsburg, and Truax v. Roulhac, each highlighting his ability to navigate complex litigation and deliver exceptional results.

Throughout his career, Westervelt has earned the respect of his peers and the broader legal community.

He has maintained an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1978, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards.

His approach is grounded in clear communication, respect and a deep understanding of both the emotional and practical dimensions of legal matters.

Westervelt is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, as well as Seton Hall University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude.

“We are thrilled to welcome George to the Gross McGinley team,” said Samuel E. Cohen, deputy managing partner. “His vast experience and client-first philosophy align perfectly with our core values of collaboration, expertise and compassionate service.”
