Weissport debuts new website; more features planned

The Borough of Weissport has a new website, www.weissportborough.com.

Cheryl Miller, the borough’s new secretary/treasurer, told borough council at its meeting Monday that she now has access to the site and has begun adding features and plans to keeping adding more.

“I have the moving permit posted there, along with ‘Right to Know’ request form, and the 2025 lease agreement for renting the Weissport Borough Park,” Miller said. “And the minutes from the 2025 meetings are posted.”

Features will include a calendar of events, ordinances and upcoming meeting agendas.

In other business, Weissport will be putting up “No parking” signs around the borough park from noon Thursday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Rockin’ Rescue 15 takes place this weekend in the Weissport Borough Park: from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The event will feature foods, raffles, live entertainment and music, and more. Proceeds will benefit the Blue Mountain Animal Rescue & Blue Mountain Cat Cottage Adoption Center.

Garbage, police

The current garbage collection contract for the borough that went into effect two or three years ago ends Dec 31.

New council members are working on preparing the bid package, which is expected to be sent out shortly.

In a related matter, solicitor Greg Mousseau will be looking at a list of Weissport properties that have past-due garbage bills and will determine how many of them will be turned over to district court.

Weissport Police Chief Matthew Williams reported that he responded to 20 calls during the month of June, including nine quality of life violations, consisting of junk cars, high weeds and grass, and health and safety violations.

Also for the month of June, the borough collected $1,015.85 in garbage fees, with the year-to-date total, 57,668.02.

In addition, the borough in June collected $9,083.76 in taxes, with the year-to-date total $48,771.55.
