Local tax collectors attend workshop to maintain status

Act 48-2015 requires elected tax collectors to obtain continuing professional education credits to be qualified tax collectors.

The Pennsylvania State Tax Collectors’ Association requires a minimum of six credits annually for the designation of certified Pennsylvania tax collector.

Tax collectors from 14 counties attended the annual District IX workshop on June 18 at Sand Springs Country Club in Drums to maintain their status as qualified and/or certified tax collectors.

District IX consists of tax collectors from Carbon, Columbia, Luzerne and Schuylkill counties.

Carbon County was represented by six attendees: Trish Spillman, Jim Thorpe Borough, Jim Thorpe Area School District; Deborah Kohler and deputy Victoria Maguschak, Weatherly Borough, Weatherly Area School District; and Lehighton Area School District attendees Sara Keiser (Franklin Township), Pauline Homm (Mahoning Township) and Mary Strohl (Lehighton Borough).
