A Nesquehoning woman faces multiple charges after sheriff deputies picked her up on a warrant.
Stephanie Barron, 43, was charged with aggravated and simple assault, flight to avoid apprehension and resisting arrest after Carbon County deputies went to her home with a warrant on July 1.
She was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning in lieu of $15,000 bail following arraignment Sunday.
According to court papers, deputies received a tip that Barron was at her home on Club Drive, arrived at the home and then set up a perimeter.
There were lights and a television on inside, and deputies announced themselves and knocked on the door for five minutes with no answer. A family member then arrived and allowed deputies inside.
Deputies searched the home and found Barron inside a closet. She became aggressive when a deputy ordered her out and told her there was a warrant for her arrest, court papers said.
Barron shoved the deputy backward and said, “I’m not going back,” according to court papers. Barron continued to refuse to follow orders and resisted arrest, trying to escape deputies who were trying to handcuff her, the arrest papers said.
Deputies warned Barron that a stun gun would be used if she continued to resist and she subsequently was stunned. Barron continued to resist, was warned that she would be stunned again; deputies stunned her two more times before being able to secure her, court papers said.
