Sewage, water concerns raised in Kidder Township
Concerns about sewage going into the lake at Split Rock were raised by residents at the June meeting of the Kidder Township Board of Supervisors.
“I am concerned with the quality of the water,” said Joey McEvoy, who runs guided fishing trips.
Marc Cuesta noted that the state Department of Environmental Protection has been there, as well as Supervisor Noel Torres and the township sewage enforcement officer.
Cuesta urged that any problems there be addressed.
Supervisor Raymond Gluck responded, “It’s in process.”
Also at the meeting Thursday, Beth Hurley, from the organization Love Kidder Township, spoke about concerns with the PNK P5 LLC warehouse project and data centers, which could be coming to the township and “need 1,000 acres and use vast amounts of water.”
Save Carbon County’s President Linda Christman said, “The proposed data center in Nesquehoning needs a $3 million dollar loan to build and will use 300,000 to 500,000 gallons of water per day, some of which can be recycled.”
She added, “I trust you will get in front of this issue.”
