State police at Troop N, Stroudsburg, have announced a driving under the influence checkpoint will be conducted on Monroe County roads during the period of Thursday, July 3, through Sunday, July 6.
A sobriety checkpoint is a traffic safety initiative during which troopers systematically stop vehicles at selected locations to briefly observe drivers for signs or behaviors normally associated with alcohol or drug impairment.
Police said the checkpoint is being held as part of their commitment to maintaining a safe environment for the motoring public.
