Tamaqua held off a late rally from Franklin Township, while Jim Thorpe rode a dominant pitching performance to a shutout win over Hazle Township in District 18 Little League tournament play Thursday.
Elsewhere, North Parkland took advantage of Northern Valley’s miscues in Lehigh Valley Legion action, and Frackville remained unbeaten in the Schuylkill Sr. Teener League.

8-10 TOURNAMENT
Franklin Twp.-Tamaqua
Tamaqua held off a late rally to edge Franklin Township 6-4 in District 18 8-10 Little League action.
Tamaqua pushed across four runs with two outs in the second to take a 5-1 lead. Wyatt Clause-Hamm delivered an RBI triple, while Peyton Steigerwalt stole home for the third run. Clause-Hamm scored earlier in the sequence on a throwing error.
Nash H. drove in Franklin Township’s first run on a fielder’s choice in the third. Grayson Shupp added an RBI single in the fourth, while Camden Moyer scored on a passed ball in the fifth. Nolan Kotch tripled and later came home on a Nash Cuyle RBI single to cap the scoring.

Jim Thorpe blanked Hazle Township 3-0 behind a dominant pitching performance from Jaxon O’Shura in District 18 11-12 Little League play.
O’Shura tossed a complete-game two-hitter, striking out six and walking just one.
Daniel O. led the offense with a double and two RBIs. Carter Reis, O’Shura, and Cameron M. each added singles for Jim Thorpe.

North Parkland capitalized on several Northern Valley miscues to pull away with a 9-4 win in a Lehigh Valley Legion contest.
A Max George RBI single, along with a pair of fielder’s choice RBIs from Brayden Buskirk and Nolan Fitzgerald, keyed a three-run third inning for the Chargers.
George added another RBI single in the seventh, scoring Griffin Unrath with the final run of the contest.
Nick Under led the Buffaloes with a single, double, a run scored and an RBI.
