PASD accepts letters for board vacancy

Palmerton Area School District is accepting letters of interest to fill a vacancy on its school board after the resignation of director Kristen Schaible.

Schaible, who was elected to the board in 2023, officially resigned from her position effective June 24.

She also stepped down as the district’s alternate representative on the Carbon Career & Technical Institute Joint Operating Committee.

Board President Earl Paules said the board plans to appoint someone to fill the seat through December.

“Then it will become a two-year term until the next election,” Paules said.

Residents of the school district who are interested and qualified to serve on the board are encouraged to apply.

Letters of interest must be submitted by July 2. Applicants can send their letters to Superintendent Angela Friebolin at 680 Fourth St., Palmerton, PA 18071, or by email to afriebolin@palmerton.org.

To fill Schaible’s vacated CCTI role, the board appointed director Erin Snyder as the new alternate representative, effective June 25. Snyder will serve for the remainder of the term.

In other business at a special meeting Tuesday, the board accepted the resignation of Kelly Beblavy, a teacher at Towamensing Elementary, effective June 30.

Beblavy was hired in May as Palmerton’s new director of curriculum and instruction.
