State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Katelyn P. Reese, 33, of Tamaqua, had minor injuries after a three-vehicle crash at 3:03 p.m. June 19 at the intersection of Claremont Avenue (Route 309) and Fairview Street in Hometown, Rush Township. Police said she was transported by personnel from the McAdoo Fire Company Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.
The crash occurred when Francklin Perez Rosado, 32, of York, driving a 2006 Freightliner Cascadia south on Route 309, failed to stop for a red light and struck a 2020 Ford Transit driven east on Fairview Street by Rosalia M. Phillips, 76, of Brandamore.
Police said after the initial impact, the Freightliner’s trailer hit a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by Reese, which was stopped at the intersection on Route 309.
The Freightliner and Transit were driven from the scene, while the Yukon was towed.
Perez Rosado was cited after the crash, according to police.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:02 p.m. June 20 at the intersection of Summer Valley Road (Route 895) and South Market Street in East Brunswick Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Evan M. Bates, 19, of Mertztown, driving a 2008 Honda CRV northbound on Route 895, struck the rear of another northbound vehicle, a 2021 Ford F-150 operated by Kyle A. Bartashus, 53, of New Philadelphia, as the latter slowed due to traffic ahead of him.
Bates was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Police were called to a hit-and-run crash at 11:07 p.m. June 20 at the intersection of Fairview Street and Church Road in Rush Township.
They said a vehicle traveling west on Fairview Street exited the right shoulder of the road, struck a utility pole and then left the scene. A portion of Fairview Street was shut down for about 90 minutes after the crash.
• Perry J. Miller, 56, of Myerstown, had possible injuries after a motorcycle crash at 2:06 p.m. June 21 on Catawissa Creek Road, North Union Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.
He was operating a 1986 Honda Shadow south when he failed to negotiate a left curve due to gravel on the roadway. The motorcycle slid onto its side, at which time Miller’s head hit a bridge guide. Police said he was wearing a helmet and was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
• Osner Valcin, 39, of Hazleton, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 3:15 p.m. June 22 on Tuscarora Mountain Drive, Ryan Township. He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2012 Kia Sorento northbound when it veered off the road, traveled onto the shoulder and hit a utility pole. The vehicle then crossed the southbound lane, went off the road and down an embankment, coming to rest on its roof.
The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
• Jacob E. Donelson, 23, of Danville, had minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 6:47 a.m. June 23 on Hazel Street in Delano Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Police said he was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 east when it veered off the road and struck an embankment on the shoulder of the road.
The pickup was able to be driven from the scene, police said.
Donelson was cited after the crash, according to police.
