Carbon sheriff appointed to state advisory committee

Carbon County’s sheriff was recently appointed to a state advisory committee to conduct a study of the recruitment and retention of law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania.

On May 12, the Pennsylvania state Senate adopted Senate Resolution 94, which directed the Joint State Government Commission to create the committee.

The advisory committee includes Carbon County Sheriff Daniel G. Zeigler, representing the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association.

The commission will conduct research and write the study, while looking to the advisory committee members to provide guidance and spur ideas.

As president of the sheriff’s association, Montgomery County Sheriff Sean Kilkenny, said, “It is critical for the sheriffs from all 67 counties across the commonwealth to have their voices heard and be included in conversations that affect law enforcement.

“Sheriff Zeigler will do a great job in representing our members on this advisory committee.”
