District 18 LL Roundup: Results from June 21-22

Weatherly, FT 11-12s advance

Weatherly and Franklin Township both posted wins in the District 18 11-12 Little League tournament on Saturday.

Weatherly rolled past Towamensing, while Franklin downed Valley East.

Towamensing

Weatherly opened its District 18 Little League tournament in grand fashion, rolling to a 12-2 victory over Towamensing.

The winners took control in the third inning, scoring six times to open up an 8-0 lead.

Chase Bachert delivered a two-run triple during the big frame, while Jaxon Dembrosi also came through with a two-run double. Robert Wisler added a run-scoring double, and Owen Titus chipped in with an RBI single.

Titus — who had two hits and scored two runs — also earned the pitching win, allowing five hits and two runs in four innings while striking out eight.

Wilser, Bachert and Silas Zink all had two hits during the 12-hit attack.

Towamensing received a pair of hits and a run from Bryce Baumgardt.

Weatherly will now face Tamaqua in a winner’s bracket game on Thursday, while Towamensing will try to stay alive tonight when it takes on Hazle Township.

Valley East-

Franklin Township

Myles Meek allowed 10 hits but only gave up one run to help Franklin Township earn a 5-1 victory over Valley East.

Meek walked one and struck out five. After giving up a first-inning tally, he pitched scoreless ball until he was forced to exit due to the pitch-count rule.

The winners, who scored three times in the home first on a pair of wild pitches and an RBI single by Grant Hunter, received a balanced offensive attack.

Jakoby Andrews finished with two hits while five other FT players added a hit. Brody Hunsicker finished with a hit, a run and an RBI, while Miles Mann and Jake Kistner both contributed a hit and a run.

Franklin returns to action Thursday in a winner’s bracket game against Valley West.

9-10 TOURNAMENT

Tamaqua-

Towamensing

Tamaqua rebounded from an early four-run deficit Sunday to post a 12-6 victory over Towamensing.

Chase Eltringham had two hits and scored two runs for the winners, while Parker Grim and Peyton Steigerwalt both finished with a pair of hits, a run and an RBI.

George Pinkey earned the mound win, allowing two hits and a run in 3 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out five.

Tamaqua now faces Jim Thorpe Tuesday in a South Division winner’s bracket game.

Franklin Township

Tamaqua received hits from eight different players during its 8-1 victory over Franklin Township on Saturday.

Lucas Brennan had a triple and scored two runs for the winners, while Lucas Letkowski and Braxton Barrett both finished with a hit and two RBIs. Parker Grim chipped in with a hit and a pair of runs.

Chase Eltringham and Barrett each tossed three innings for Tamaqua, combing on a four-hitter. Eltringham started and gave up just one hit while striking out four. Barrett allowed three hits and fanned three.
