June 18, 1994 — Lehighton’s Carl Wolter and Palmerton’s Nicole Levandusky are the recipients of the annual Times News Male and Female Athletes of the Year. Recognizing all-around athletes for the entire school year for the fourth consecutive year, Wolter earns his honor by excelling in three sports. The senior threw for 942 yards and eight touchdowns in football, scored 391 points for a 17.0 per game average in basketball, and won a state title in the javelin with a throw of 211-5. Levandusky, a freshman, scored 468 points for a 17.3 average in basketball and led the Bombers softball team in seven categories, including a .493 average, 36 hits and 31 RBIs.
