Hazleton police detained several people following a midday shooting in a residential neighborhood Tuesday.

City police received a Raven Gun Shot Detection in the area of North Vine and 14th streets at 12:56 p.m. and officers found several shell casing in the area.

Officer identified the vehicle involved, and later located the vehicle, which fled at a high rate of speed when police attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle came to a stop after the occupants bailed out, leaving it to roll into a parked box truck in the area of West Spruce and North Locust streets, police said.

Officers detained several people related to the investigation, which remains active.
