Lehighton plans to bring on an assistant borough manager.

On a 5-0 measure, borough council on Monday agreed to advertise for an assistant borough manager, as well as a treasurer.

Borough Manager Dane DeWire noted that both the current borough assistant and borough treasurer are planning on retiring this year.

DeWire then suggested morphing the borough assistant position into an assistant borough manager role.

He said the salary for the assistant borough manager position would be $55,000 to $65,000, and duties would include those of the current assistant borough secretary/treasurer, plus administrative duties as assigned by the borough manager.

DeWire said the salary for the treasurer position would be $50,000 to $60,000.

After the meeting, DeWire noted that applications will not be distributed and/or accepted until job descriptions are posted and the borough publicly advertises for the positions.
