Former Weatherly official faces DUI

Paul J. Hadzick, who resigned as mayor/council president of Weatherly amid sexual harassment allegations, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol by Weatherly police on June 4.

According to police, officers were on patrol at 7:45 a.m. and stopped Hadzick, who was driving with an expired registration.

Police said Hadzick, 70, of Weatherly, showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

He was asked to exit the vehicle and take a series of field sobriety tests. Police said Hadzick exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

A portable breath test showed Hadzick’s alcohol content at 0.173%. Police said he refused a blood test analysis and was taken to his residence.

Upon further investigation, police said Hadzick was also found to be driving with an expired driver’s license.

He is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without a license. A preliminary arraignment and hearing will be held July 16.

Hadzick resigned on April 28 after results of an independent investigation into the allegations were presented to borough council.
