The Jim Thorpe Lions Club presented its 51st Annual Student of the Month Awards at a dinner held recently at Jim Thorpe High School.

“Our club first presented these awards in 1974,” Lions Club President Pamela McElmoyle said. “The faculty from the high school chose the students who would receive these awards.”

Eight students were selected by Jim Thorpe High School faculty to receive the awards; one student for each month from October 2024 through May 2025. Each student received a framed certificate and a check for $75.

“While academic criteria is important, it is not the primary consideration in the selection process,” McElmoyle said. “Emphasis for selection is based on the student’s dedication and enthusiasm to learn, the effort they put in, and their desire to succeed.”

• November 2024, Physical Education: Justin Yescavage

• January 2025, Music: Ethan Ruch

• February 2025, Art: Destiny Moore

• March 2025, Technology: Noah Geiser

• April 2025, Foreign Language (German): Landon Thompson

• April 2025, Foreign Language (Spanish): Sotor Cimbolo

• May 2025, Computer Science: Victoria Stehlik

Duffy, Yescavage, Thompson and Stehlik attended the dinner with their families. The others received their awards at a later time.
