Folks are invited to participate in a survey and a meeting that will help guide the planning for a local portion of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail.
The 9/11 trail is a 1,500 mile multiuse route that will link the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the Flight 93 Memorial. Its Anthracite Connector will span between Carbon and Schuylkill counties.
The public workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lehigh Carbon Community College’s Morgan Center, 234 High St., Tamaqua.
At the meeting, attendees will be asked how they plan to use the trail and what benefits they hope it provides the region.
Available at bit.ly/3SKNwgB, the survey asks respondents a number of questions but focuses on how often they might use the trail once it is completed.
The local section will link Pottsville and Jim Thorpe, traveling through Mechanicsville, Palo Alto, Port Carbon, Cumbola, New Philadelphia, Middleport, Tamaqua, Coaldale, Lansford, Nesquehoning and Summit Hill.
Those who respond are asked how likely they would be to use the trail, and asked whether they would walk, run or bike it. It also questions which seasons they plan to use the trail, and at what frequency they would visit.
The survey also asks for a respondent’s age and zip code, and allows people to leave contact information for updates on the trail.
Deadline for the survey is June 30.
