The American Legion named Ethan Savitsky, a senior at Lehighton Area High School, as the “State Scout of the Year.”

A son of Robert and Gloria Savitsky of Lehighton, he is a four-year letter winner on the Indians’ track team, where he competes in pole vaulting and placed fifth and sixth in league meets in the past two years.

He trained under several former Olympic medal winners and attended “Sky Jumpers” pole vaulter camp.

Ethan is a member of the Student Forum, the high school stage crew and the Stand Tall program at LAHS. The latter program is a voluntary drug and alcohol testing program in which members pledge to be free of drug and alcohol.
