Weatherly issues statement on Hadzick

Weatherly Borough issued a final statement on the investigation of sexual harassment claims made against former Mayor Paul J. Hadzick on Wednesday morning.

The borough followed its policy regarding sexual harassment, and contacted Margolis Edelstein, an impartial law firm out of Philadelphia, to investigate the allegations presented, a statement posted on the borough’s Facebook page said.

The law firm was not recommended by the police union or any borough employee, the statement said.

A thorough investigation was performed and the findings presented to council, including the former mayor, Hadzick, during an executive session April 28.

Following this executive session, Hadzick verbally announced his resignation effectively immediately, and council accepted it.

Hadzick then submitted a resignation in writing, and council accepted the written resignation on May 27.

“The Former Mayor has posted on social media statements regarding the investigation. The Borough once again does not condone the false statements made by the former Mayor regarding the alleged specifics of the investigation,” the borough’s statement reads.

“Specifically, the former Mayor was never told the identities of the four complainants, nor did receive any apologies for the allegations,” the statement said.

The borough will not be making any further comment on this investigation due to the nature of the allegations, the statement concludes.
