People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for shooting a dog at least seven times in his legs and back in Schuylkill County.
The dog — an adult black Labrador retriever mix with a rusted chain-type collar around his neck — was discovered dead and bloody around 1:30 p.m. last week near a walking trail in a secluded wooded area off Fountain Road north of Donaldson.
Shell casings, likely from a .45 caliber weapon, were found at the scene.
PETA Senior Director of Media Relations Heather Carlson said: “Nothing can undo this dog’s suffering, but at least the person who caused it can be brought to justice — and PETA is urging anyone with information to come forward immediately before they hurt someone else.”
Anyone with information related to this case should contact the Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA at 570-345-3540 or state police at 570-754-4600.
