Andreas VFW

The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. June 11 at West Penn Park.

Calvary Lewistown

The 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewistown will include recognition of graduates from preschool to college. Pastor Kim Leskowich will deliver a message of “Challenge of Life.” Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m., and there will be a 6:30 p.m. Sunday gathering.

The Wednesday prayer group meets at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will include the dedication of the organ. There will be no communion. Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

The June 8 service will have the Sacrament of Holy Communion. It is also Graduate Senior Sunday.

Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on May 27 with 33 members present.

President Robert Neifert opened the meeting. The invocation, “The Signature of God,” was read by one member. Three members were added to the sick list.

The group chanced off a wreath, which was one by a member. A moment of silence was held for a member. The deadline to sign up for the July 8 picnic is June 24. The picnic will be noon-4:30 p.m., with food from Hess Catering, Schuylkill Haven.

Refreshments were served and an auction of gifts was held. The meeting closed and bingo was played. The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. June 10 at Christ Church in Barnesville. Members will bring their own desserts.

Zion Lewistown

Zion Church in Lewistown will be serving breakfast from 8:30-10 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and church will be held at 10:30 a.m. Communion will be included. A congregational meeting will follow.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on May 22 with 30 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Heavenly Father,” recited.

One member was added to the sick list. The Christmas and anniversary dinner was delicious and enjoyed by all. It was catered by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven. A basket raffle is scheduled for June 5.

The meeting closed, and bingo and cards were played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Luncheon

A Sunshine and Lemonade luncheon will be held beginning at 11:30 a.m. June 17 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg.

A speaker will be announced. Special music will be provided by Ariana and Karoline Eifert of Pottsville. Jeri Carroll of Lake Wynonah will speak of “Wigs and More.”

The event is sponsored by Schuylkill Women’s Connection. Reservations are due by June 11 and may be made by calling Michelle at 570-617-3896 or Sue at 570-617-9490. There is a cost.

Vacation Bible School

Lewistown Valley Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8:15 p.m. on July 7-11 at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. The theme is “Wonder Junction: Marvel at Jesus, Live for His Glory.”

The school is for ages 2 and 3, and for prekindergarten to sixth grade (completed). Children under 4 need an accompanying adult.
