N. Lehigh staff honored with awards

A Northern Lehigh School District administrator, along with several instructors, have been acknowledged with awards.

Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Link discussed their accomplishments at a recent school board meeting and said he was “thrilled to share some incredible news about the outstanding achievements of our colleagues who have been recognized on both state and national levels for their exceptional work and dedication to student success.”

Wanda McDaniel Award

Link said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tania Stoker has been selected by the PASA Women’s Caucus as the 2025 recipient of the Wanda McDaniel Award.

“This honor highlights her exceptional leadership and advocacy in education, serving as a model of excellence and inspiration across the state,” Link said. “Dr. Stoker has been long recognized as a local education leader at the forefront of designing high-quality professional development, promoting instructional excellence, ensuring equity in education for all learners, and building capacity in those she leads. Now, she is being recognized by her colleagues across the state for that very leadership and advocacy.”

Master of Mathematics Award

Link said that Northern Lehigh Middle School Math teacher, instructional coach and department leader Amanda Bariana has been honored with the Master of Mathematics Award for Junior High/Middle School by the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

“This prestigious recognition celebrates Amanda’s commitment to excellence in mathematics instruction, her innovative teaching practices, and her unwavering dedication to student achievement,” Link said. “We are so proud to have Amanda represent Northern Lehigh School District at the state level, and she will officially receive her award in July at the PCTM Conference.”

Read 180 Awards

On the national level, Link said the district was excited to share that two of its Read 180 teachers from the Special Education Department have been recognized for their exceptional work.

He said Tammy Fristick at the high school and Megan Henritzy at the middle school were selected as two of only 180 teachers across the nation to be honored for their impactful work with the Read 180 Literacy Program.

Link said the award highlights teachers whose dedication opens new pathways to success, inspiring students to rise above challenges both in and beyond the classroom.

“When you consider the thousands of classrooms implementing the Read 180 curriculum nationwide, it is truly remarkable that two recipients were chosen from the same school district — and even more extraordinary that they are the only two awardees from Pennsylvania,” Link said. “This is a testament to the commitment, skill, and passion of our educators.”

He then congratulated Stoker, Bariana, Fristick and Henritzy “for all you do to represent Northern Lehigh School District so well. I am proud to say I have the privilege of working with each of you.

“Your accomplishments reflect not only your individual excellence but also the collective strength of our team at Northern Lehigh,” he said. “Thank you to all of you for your ongoing dedication to our students and our community.”
