N. Lehigh praises retiring teacher

Northern Lehigh School thanked a retiring business education teacher for her contributions to the school community.

Superintendent Matthew J. Link recognized Vonda Lorson, business education teacher, at last week’s school board meeting.

“She exemplifies the qualities of an exceptional educator — dedication, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to student success,” Link said.

Lorson joined the district’s faculty in August 2004.

“Since joining our faculty, Ms. Lorson has demonstrated an exceptional depth of knowledge in her content area,” Link said. “She not only possesses a strong command of her subject matter, but also actively seeks to expand her expertise through professional development, collaboration with colleagues, and refinement of her instructional practices. Her ability to connect complex concepts to real-world applications ensures that students engage deeply with the material, making learning both relevant and impactful.”

Link added that beyond the classroom, Lorson extends her dedication to students and the broader school community, and that as a longtime game worker, “she has contributed to the school experience in ways that go beyond academics, fostering school spirit and strengthening relationships with students outside the classroom. Her commitment to both education and extracurricular involvement enriches the overall student experience and highlights her dedication to the school’s mission.

“In recognizing Ms. Lorson today, we celebrate not only her professional achievements, but also the lasting impact she has on her students and colleagues. Her depth of knowledge, dedication, and ability to create meaningful learning experiences make her an invaluable member of our school community.”

She earned her bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown before obtaining her teaching certificate in computer-information-technology from Gwynedd Mercy College in 2004. She earned a master of education at Wilkes University, while continuing to serve students in the district.
