West Penn revisits trail creation discussion

West Penn Township officials remain committed to creating a walking trail along a portion of land that was donated to the township.

Supervisors Monday morning discussed the possibility of connecting a 5-acre parcel from Quarry Road to the border of East Penn Township.

Board Chairman Tony Prudenti said the township is planning to try to get grant money to do that.

Supervisor Jim Akins said he would like to see the township get sketches, and suggested the township look to hold a meeting at some point.

Prudenti said the township does have a master sketch plan.

“What I’m hoping we could do is just use the railroad right of way,” Prudenti said.

In January 2023, the board announced that the township would like to begin clearing the brush along a portion of the 5.9 acres of land that was donated and the township later acquired in 2019.
