State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks arrested Derek Weaver, 28, on charges of attempted criminal homicide following an incident at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

They said Weaver, whose address was not provided, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley and committed to the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bail.

Police said it is alleged he fired one round from a shotgun, striking a 30-year-old man and the man’s vehicle, in Tremont Borough. They said the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

In addition to the attempted homicide charge, Weaver is charged with aggravated assault and other related charges, police said.
