Kunkletown man charged with rape
A Kunkletown man has been charged with rape.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Lee Marzen of the Jim Thorpe Police Department in the case against Alex Vogel:
A ChildLine reported that Vogel, 19, sexually assaulted juvenile relatives.
On Nov. 13, 2023, Vogel’s relatives had gone to the Lehigh Valley Children’s Advocacy Center to be interviewed regarding ChildLine report.
One of the victims told the forensic interviewer what happened to her at her mother’s residence in Jim Thorpe.
The victim said that Vogel had touched her inappropriately and also made her touch him, recalling various instances when contact occurred.
The victim stated that Vogel also showed her pornography on his phone, and that Vogel took a picture of her.
On May 28, 2024, Vogel went to the Jim Thorpe Police Department to be interviewed regarding the allegations and agreed to speak with police.
Vogel admitted to Marzen that he did what the victim said he did when she was about 7 years old.
Vogel stated that the incidents with the victim occurred in his bedroom as well as his brothers’ shared bedroom. He also admitted to showing pornographic videos to the victim.
Vogel faces charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault — forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint and indecent assault person less than 13 years of age.
In a separate case, Vogel admitted to Marzen that he did what the other victims said he did as well.
For that case, Vogel also faces charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault — forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint and indecent assault person less than 13 years of age.
Vogel is currently free in lieu of $100,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing May 28 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
