In the eight Schuylkill County municipalities in the Times News coverage area, voters on Tuesday will participate in the Primary Election of 2025, where Democrats and Republican voters get the opportunity to cast their ballots for candidates seeking their parties’ respective nominations.

This time around, there are contests in Tamaqua and Coaldale boroughs, and Rush and Schuylkill townships to be decided in the primary. All of the races are between Republican candidates, as there are no contested races among Democrats.

Tamaqua voters will have choices to make regarding the mayor’s position and borough council positions; Coaldale voters will have decisions to make regarding four-year terms and a two-year term on borough council; Schuylkill Township voters have a two-person GOP race for the supervisors’ nomination; and in Rush Township, three Republicans are seeking the party’s nomination for the supervisor’s post.

Meanwhile, there are races for inspector of elections positions in Walker and West Penn townships while there are no contested races in Delano and Ryan townships and for the other positions in Walker and West Penn.
