Houser a candidate for Tamaqua mayor
Jael Houser has announced her candidacy for mayor of Tamaqua. She is running for the Republican spot on the ballot.
She says she brings a message rooted in conservative values, community commitment, and a vision for a safer, stronger future for the borough.
“As a conservative Republican, I’m rooted in faith, family and a deep commitment to the community I’ve called home for more than two decades,” Houser said. “Tamaqua isn’t just where I live — it’s where my husband, Michael, and I have chosen to raise our five wonderful children.”
Houser emphasized that her campaign is focused on practical, fiscally responsible solutions that are driven by community needs.
She plans to build on the foundation laid by outgoing Mayor Nathan Gerace, while advancing key initiatives that reflect the priorities of Tamaqua residents.
Her platform includes expanding youth engagement programs to keep young people involved and off the streets; partnering with neighboring communities to share resources and strengthen regional growth; and investing in services that address addiction and homelessness.
Houser also stressed the importance of rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the community while maintaining strong public safety.
“I stand proudly with our police — they deserve our respect, our support and the resources to keep Tamaqua safe,” she said.
With professional experience in grant writing, Houser sees an opportunity to reduce the town’s financial burden without raising taxes.
“Too often, the conversation around progress turns into a debate about raising taxes. But it doesn’t have to be that way,” she said. “I will pursue state, federal, and private grants to fund public safety initiatives, youth programs, infrastructure upgrades, and more.”
Houser, who describes herself as committed to “hard work, community service, and the belief that small towns like ours deserve strong, principled leadership,” said she’s ready to serve.
“I love Tamaqua. I believe in its people. And I know that together, we can secure a brighter, stronger future for our town,” she said. “I humbly ask for your support and your vote.”
