Speeder train car hit at Kidder railroad crossing

Emergency personnel from Kidder Township were dispatched Sunday morning to a report of a crash involving a car and a train at the railroad crossing on Tannery Road at the intersection with Route 534.

Upon arriving on scene they found a car had struck a “speeder car” passing through the crossing traveling north.

The group of about 50 cars from across the nation had passed through Tamaqua Saturday morning.

Two occupants of the car were injured in the incident. The victims were treated at the scene by members of the Lake Harmony ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to an area trauma center.

Kidder Township police and the Reading and Blue Mountain railroad police are investigating the incident.
