Tamaqua police report harassment incidents

Tamaqua police cited George Hartranft, 52, Tamaqua, with harassment and disorderly conduct after he punched another man in the face around 1 a.m. April 16 on the 300 block of North Greenwood Street.

Police met with the victim who had a frozen chicken wing to an area near his eye, which police said was swollen to the size of a softball.

The man said he allowed a man named “Mort Hartranft” to move into his home so that the man could get his life back together. The victim said he never had any fights with Hartranft.

He said that he left the home for a short time, and when he returned, Hartranft called him a name and punched him in the face.

The victim said Hartranft left the residence. Police later found his correct first name and filed the charges.

A Tamaqua woman is also facing a harassment charge after she pushed and kicked a man during a fight that began over a broken vacuum cleaner.

Police were called to a home on the unit block of North Greenwood Street around 1 a.m. April 17 for a domestic dispute and spoke to a man who said Andrea Keitt, 42, had kicked him.

As police were speaking to the man, Keitt walked down the stairs and yelled at the man and police. She eventually calmed down, and explained that she used to date the victim but they were friends. Keitt said she began arguing with the man after he broke her vacuum cleaner.

She said she left the home and went to her sister’s place but the victim kept asking her to return. When she did, the two fought again and she pushed him. An officer also saw Keitt kick the man as he was walking up the stairs.
