November 2, 1985 — Palmerton’s Shane Anthony finishes in sixth place at the PIAA Cross Country Class 2A championships at Lehigh University’s Saucon Fields. Anthony, a senior who finished second in the Centennial League meet and fourth at districts, uses a strong kick to pass two runners down the stretch to gain sixth in a time of 16:20.2. The Blue Bomber had only been running a month after missing time with a back injury. Tamaqua’s Frank Gerber and Jim Lindenmuth also medal by placing in the top 20. Gerber crosses in 16th, while Lindenmuth places 18th.
