October 5, 2001 — Ray Keshel returns the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and Northwestern goes on to defeat Palisades 42-13. Keshel also scores the first touchdown of the second half as the Tigers, coached by Bob Mitchell, break open a tight game by tallying 28 unanswered points over the final two quarters. The winners receive a defensive TD from Justin Fenstermacher, who returns an interception 51 yards to the end zone. Roland Kern tosses a 40-yard scoring strike to Adam Wolbach, while Northwestern also gets a 7-yard touchdown run from Austin Bleam and a 38-yard score on the ground from Nick Friday.
