Turnpike crashes
State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:35 a.m. Aug. 16 at mile marker 114.1 in Pittston Township.
Police said the crash occurred when a 2011 Ford Focus operated by Dawn M. Prokop, 46, of White Haven, “rear-ended” a 2025 Peterbilt driven by Nathan J. Bragunier, 27, of Carlisle, a contractor who was setting up signs for a work zone in the northbound lanes.
Prokop was cited for careless driving, according to police.
• Police said there were no injuries from a two-vehicle crash at 1:14 p.m. Aug. 15 at mile marker 72.9 in East Penn Township, but one of the vehicles fled the scene.
Police said the unknown vehicle swerved into a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica operated by Michael S. Ripinsky, 58, of Chesterfield, New Jersey, striking it. The driver of the vehicle stopped but then drove away.
The Pacifica had front end, hood and windshield damages.
• Iczaida I. Pastrana, 37, of Nesquehoning, was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1:06 p.m. Aug. 15 at the entrance to the Lehigh Valley toll plaza in South Whitehall Township.
Police said that she was transported by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Association to St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown.
Pastrana was a passenger in a 2024 Ford driven by Michael J. Lymanstall, 73, of Bethlehem, according to police. Lymanstall was attempting to yield for traffic at the toll booth entrance and pulled into the path of a Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Michael T. Brown, 30, of Mohrsville, police said.
The rig hit the Ford on its driver’s side, police said.
• Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1 p.m. July 18 at mile marker 103.9 in Bear Creek Township.
Police identified them as Jarrod R. Yee, 26, of Old Forge, who was transported by personnel from the White Haven Rescue Squad to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, and Ricardo I. Busi, 56, of Saylorsburg, who did not require a medical transport.
The crash occurred when Yee, who was driving a 2021 Kia K5, hit the back of a Ford F250 operated by Busi and then a concrete barrier.
Police said Yee was cited after the crash.
