Washington Township supervisors took the following action last week:
• Approved the bid from Bruce George, Paving & Excavation for $73,085 to increase the walking path at the Eagles Nest Park with COVID-19 funding.
• Agreed to advertise a proposed ordinance that would make Spring Lane in Slatedale a one-way street due to increased traffic.
• Approved the use of a portion of Scout House Road, Old Mille Road and Rextown Road as part of the detours for the Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade, due to the Walnut Street bridge closure in Slatington.
• Announced that the township has an open seat on the planning commission.
• Approved exemption of real estate property tax for Farrell D. Snyder, disabled veteran.
• Approved exoneration of per capita tax for Ashton Bevans, Everette Bevans, Harlee Bachman, Erica Porter Mantz, Brock Mantz, Damion Rodriguez, all active military.
• Supervisor Thomas Dengler said that he would like all openings for appointed positions posted for the township, just like paid jobs are.
