Carbon County Commissioners

Carbon County commissioners moved through a light agenda on Thursday, noting that there will be no meeting next week.

The next regular commissioner’s meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 15.

In routine business, the commissioners:

• Acknowledged a $500 donation from the Carbon County Community Foundation/the Christman Team Fund for the county dog shelter.

• Approved an agreement between the county and the Pennsylvania Department of Health Office of Drug Surveillance and Misuse Prevention to obtain coroner/medical examiner reports, toxicology reports and autopsy reports for violent deaths in Carbon County from Jan. 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2023, in the amount of $10,000.

• Terminated an agreement with PenTeleData for telephone service for the jury call-in telephone system with an early termination fee of $160.63, due to the service not being compatible with the Genesis Jury System.

• Renewed an agreement with Dell Technologies of Round Rock, Texas, for the CrowdStrike Falcon Complete antivirus system for one-year at a cost of $27,750 and CrowdStrike Express support at a cost of $1,403. Total cost is $29,153.

• Approved a grant-in-aid notification from Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission for partial salary reimbursement of juvenile court officers through June 30, 2025. Estimated revenue is $69,300.

• Approved an award of funding in the amount of $92,723 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for reimbursement of wages for mental health social worker and part-time public defender through Dec. 31, 2025.

• Approved a letter of agreement with the county Area Agency on Aging and Senior Community Service Employment Program through the PathStone program to employ participants for the purpose of receiving on-the-job training at each senior center site through July 30, 2025.

• Approved a banner request for the Carbon Model Railroad Society, Bowmanstown, for upcoming events, visit: cmrs.info; from Oct. 7 to 24.

• Adopted a resolution terminating the county’s current credit card agreement with American Express and to execute a credit card agreement with Mauch Chunk Trust Co. of Jim Thorpe.
