NL pool hosts Christmas in July
A good many were covered in bubbles from head to toe.
Some were content perfecting their dives into the water.
Others got an early start in relaying their toy lists to Santa.
Christmas in July was held Friday at the Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool in Slatington, with a foam machine, dunk tank, games, and of course a visit from Santa.
A night swim was also scheduled for later that evening.
Pool manager Chad Groover said attendance for the event was solid, much as it has been all summer long.
“It’s been great; we’ve been busy,” Groover said. “Our memberships are up, are day passes are up, been a great summer.”
Youth who were in attendance clearly had themselves a blast.
Those include Nick Whitney, who will enter ninth grade at Northwestern Lehigh High School.
“I came with my Nana,” said Nick, 14, who said he enjoyed the foam machine. “The pool is really clean, the food is very good, it’s a day nice out.”
Emmanuel Onsongo, who will enter seventh grade at Northern Lehigh Middle School, clearly enjoyed himself.
“I come (here) most of the time,” said Emanuel, 12. “I like the foam, diving.”
Briar Klimek, who will be a fifth-grader at Slatington Elementary, said she enjoyed diving.
“It’s fun,” said Briar, 10. “I’m busy here with my sister and friends.”
Brothers Rowan Kromer, 5, and Calvin Kromer, 7, met with Santa to tell him what’s on their Christmas lists.
Their mother, Amanda Kromer of Walnutport, said her two sons who are about to enter kindergarten and second grade at Peters Elementary, enjoy coming to the pool.
“They love to swim, Kromer said.
The pool is open from noon to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
