Lehighton grad Hough honored at Hofstra

Lehighton graduate and field hockey standout Karissa Hough was recently honored at Hofstra University’s Seventh Annual HOFSPYS, an event that showcases the best of Hofstra athletics.

Hough won the Sylvia J. Giallombardo Award, given to Hofstra’s top scholar-athlete from a women’s team.

In 2023, Hough earned NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction and was named to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. She was also selected to the fall 2023 CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

Hough played in 15 games on defense, and logged a total of 155 minutes.

The award was presented by Graham Radcliffe, Assistant Director of Athletics for Student-Athlete Success and Services and Allie Brady, Assistant Director of Athletics, Learning Specialist.

Hough will return in the fall for a fifth year of eligibility created by the coronavirus pandemic. She graduated on May 19 with a Bachelor of Biology degree, and will graduate with her Master’s of Biology in December.

Hough was the Times News Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
