One man is dead as the result of a tubing accident on the Lehigh River near Lehighton.

Around 11:15 a.m. Saturday a call came in of a male on the river near the trestle in distress.

The Lehighton Fire Department dive team launched a boat just upstream and started a search for the victim.

A short time later a call came in from several people about a mile downstream of a person in the river in the area of the Lehighton sewer plant.

Lehighton divers located the victim and called for the Carbon county coroner.
