Thorpe man charged in disorderly conduct

A Jim Thorpe man, who was dancing on the 300-block of Spruce Street on April 26, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct by Tamaqua police.

Police said they received a report of a man dancing at 6:38 p.m. The caller said the man seemed “out of it.” Officers spotted the man, James Yenca, 36, who they said was clearly under the influence of a narcotic.

Yenca said his name was “Karl Karl” and that he was waiting for his father and pointed to where his father was, but police said no one was there.

Police said Yenca passively resisted as they took him into custody. Officers then went to his vehicle and found two pipes used for ingesting narcotics.

He was taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale due to his state of mind, police said.
