Polk residents concerned about Eldo property

Joseph Runner, president of Eldo Lakes Homeowners Association and several residents approached Polk Township supervisors Monday night with ongoing concerns about a property at 134 Poplar Lane.

Runner noted, “We have offered the homeowner help with keeping up with the property.”

The concern that the property is not taken care of and has no water or electricity has been going on for years.

The residents asked the board about paying back taxes and cleaning up and selling the property to recoup the money, which was thought to be a great resolution. Further discussion will occur.

In other business, the fire company reported 177 hours of training and 118 hours of fundraising. There were 84 emergency calls year-to-date. A yard sale will be held on June 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and chicken barbecue on June 23 from 2-4 p.m.

A motion was approved for the fire company to meet with the supervisors to discuss possibilities of additional funding for equipment. A date will be selected and advertised.

Paving and concrete were completed at the Recycling Center, as well as mowing along roads. The Hell Hollow Road Bridge will be inspected this week. Whitney B Road will be closed for two weeks to fix the culvert. A reminder was made to be patient and careful in work zones.

The Zoning/Codes officer reported 13 building permits and 16 zoning permits this month.

On Sunday a service will be held at the Veterans Memorial on Route 209 from 2 to 4 p.m.
