Schuylkill County’s VISION has launched a yearlong challenge, 570 GO, to encourage those of all ages to get outdoors.
Participants will track time spent outdoors, with the hopes of logging 570 hours over the next year, or an average of 11 hours per week. They can be outside for sports, recreation, concerts, picnics and other activities they enjoy.
The 570 GO project encourages socialization and a sense of community since a U.S. Surgeon General report found that approximately half of adults experience loneliness.
As part of the project, VISION will share ideas and community outdoor events and activities to get participants moving and socializing outdoors during all seasons.
The organization emphasizes community health and wellness, quality of life, and importance of community to create a better future for Schuylkill County.
Those who are interested can pick up a tracking worksheet with 570 squares for every hour at Schuylkill VISION, Explore Schuylkill, Schuylkill YMCA and participating libraries. It can be printed from VISION’s events page at www.schuylkillvision.com/events.html.
Those who return the worksheet between March 31 and May 31, 2025, will be eligible for a 570 GO gift.
