Police: Driver was going 115 mph

An 18-year-old from Langhorne who was clocked at 115 mph on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was charged by state police at the Pocono barracks for reckless endangerment.

Police said it happened at 2:54 p.m. Sunday when police observed Yondel Arian Perez in a white Tesla vehicle speeding in a 70 mph zone in the area of mile marker 69.1 in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

They said a traffic stop was attempted but Perez continued to accelerate and travel in and out of lanes in an attempt to elude the patrol vehicle.

When he was eventually stopped, police said there were cans and bottles of alcohol in the vehicle, although police said it was determined Perez did not consume the alcohol.

In addition to the reckless endangerment and speeding charges he faces, Perez was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol.
