Weissport to hold ‘Living History Day’

It promises to be a day when history comes to life in Weissport.

The borough will hold “Living History Day” from noon to 4 p.m. May 19 in the Weissport Park, weather permitting.

It is being conducted by Jacob’s Weissport Historical Society, with refreshments by Jacob’s United Church of Christ.

The idea for the event came from Ruth Bush, a member of the Historical Society, said Dr. Keith Boyer.

“She thought it would be a good idea,” Boyer said. “She researched and found Mr. (Lynn) Otto.”

Boyer explained the context behind the event.

“To make people aware of the significance of Weissport in the history of the country at that time period and the battles surrounding Weissport,” he said. “To educate the people of the history of Weissport and keep local history alive.”

• Nick Smith, greeter.

• Noon: Divine Service, with the welcome by Eunice Hearn, Pastor, Jacob’s United Church of Christ.
