Lehighton Area School District has opted to retain its legal representation.

The school board on Monday approved the renewal agreement for solicitor services with Fox Rothschild from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

After the vote, borough resident Autumn Abelovsky questioned if the district put a Request for Proposal out for the board solicitor position.

Board President Jeremy Glaush told Abelovsky that the board did not.

Glaush said they had discussed it a couple of times, but there was nobody who wanted to go that route.

Abelovsky said she believes the firm is very pricey, and said a representative is rarely present.

In other personnel matters, the board approved:

• Summer Youth Employment Worksite Agreement with Carbon County Workforce Training for April 22 through Dec. 31, at no cost to the district.

• Experimental learning for student teachers with Eastern University, pending any necessary documentation, for the 2024-2025 school year.
