Police charge woman with high BAC rate

Tammy Gribble, 52, of Lansford, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a 2:22 a.m. incident on March 7, Coaldale police said.

Police said they were on patrol on Route 209 near the Bull Run intersection in Coaldale and spotted a vehicle traveling on the shoulder of the road.

The officer then traveled behind the vehicle as it headed toward Lansford and saw that it was bouncing from the white fog line to the yellow divider line. As police monitored the car, the driver - later identified as Gribble - continued to brake and accelerate while bouncing between the lines. Police said they conducted a traffic stop and knocked on the driver’s side window.

When Gribble noticed police, she attempted to use the window wiper switch on the steering column to open the window. When she was able to open the window, police said they smelled alcohol.

Officers asked Gribble if she had been drinking and she slurred, “Men suck and I have been drinking.” Police asked for her driver’s license and said Gribble handed them her bank card, insurance card, and bank card again before giving them her license.

Police said she was asked to perform field sobriety tests but Gribble told them she was unable to do so because she has a bad knee. Police noticed that she was wearing a knee brace. She was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence and placed in the police cruiser.

While in custody, police said Gribble kept repeating, “Men suck,” “I have been drinking because men suck I won’t lie to you,” “I won’t even argue that I am drink” and “I should not be driving.”

She consented to a blood test which showed her blood alcohol content at 0.2%.
