Summit Hill plans summer street work

Borough work force supervisor Ronald Yuricheck has presented his list of summer street projects to Summit Hill Borough Council.

Paving includes the following streets:

• Walter Street from Chestnut Street to Oak Street, about 500 feet.

• West Mountaintop Road, a dirt road.

• Patch on Richards Avenue between Pine and Spruce Street.

• Chestnut Street from Amidon to Walter Street.

• Patch on the unit block of Barea Avenue.

• Patches on Summit Avenue between Oak and Spruce Streets.

• Patch on Walnut Street between Fell and Richards Avenue.

• Patch on Fell Street between Walnut and Market Streets.

* Patch on White Street between Poplar and Walnut Streets.

There also will be numerous storm inlet repairs and replacement. These locations are:

• White and Oak Street (southeast).

• Ludlow and Chestnut (southwest).

• Amidon Street near Miners Market (south side).

• Chestnut and Berea Avenue (southwest and southeast).

• Amidon and Chestnut Street (southwest).

Yuricheck said there are several other projects planned to include working with the school to have them purchase a flail mower for their tractor for cutting back brush, tree trimming of branches hanging onto streets for clearance of trucks for plowing, dig a swale along rear of 300 and 400 blocks of West Ludlow Street because of water backing into yards, and finding a plow to replace one that is a 1975 model.

He also urged the borough council to apply for a grant to replace Christmas lights on poles. He said the current lights are old and many have sockets that are bad and lights that are out on the decorations.
