April 19, 1961 - Dave Roeder sets a new school mark in the shot put during Palmerton’s 71 1/2-23 1/2 Lehigh Valley League track and field victory over Emmaus. Roeder gets off a throw of 48-4 to better the old mark of 48-0, which was set five years earlier by Bob Mlkvy. Willard Weaver turns in a pair of first-place finishes for the Blue Bombers, coached by Don Holland, taking both the 100 and 220. The winners also receive firsts in the meet from Neal Biege (440), Mike Riska (880), Billy Heydt (discus) and Steve Kun (broad jump).
